A Wayne County, Michigan man struck a $2 million jackpot and credits the win to a lucky encounter.
The 51-year-old man happened to be in a Discount Tobacco store when he saw another player. The anonymous player was scratching away at a Michigan $2,000,000 Jackpot ticket.
“I was in Discount Tobacco and watched a guy scratch off a few $2,000,000 Jackpot instant game tickets,” the man said. “I asked the guy playing if he minded if I bought a couple tickets. He told me to go ahead because he hadn’t been having any luck.”
“I bought two tickets and scratched them off and the guy was just as stunned as I was that I’d hit a $2 million prize. He told me he was happy for me, but I imagine that probably stung a little bit,” the winner said.
He immediately went home to inform his wife of the big win. She was so shocked that he had to actually convince her it was true.
“I had to convince her I wasn’t joking,” said the player. “Once I finally did that, we both kept saying how stunned we were.”
After claiming his winnings the man stated that he had plans for the money. He would pay off his mortgage first, buy a truck, then make a sizeable donation to his church.
